Engaged employees stay for what they give
(they like their work), whereas disengaged
employees stay for what they receive
(favourable job conditions, growth
opportunities, job security).

EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT
Employers look to maximize employee engagement to generate customer values and organizational commitment from their employees. A fully engaged employee has been found to demonstrate strong advocacy for their employer, have a positive influence on other employees and contribute to stronger financial results for the organization.
According to our Hierarchy of Engagement Needs, fundamental employee needs are necessary to be dealt with to build employee engagement. Established drivers must focus on security and safety and financial needs to safeguard against low engagement. An environment of high engagement is found when employees obtain personal fulfillment from their work. They are aware of what personal core values are important to honour in their work and are given the opportunity to take ownership of their work responsibilities to allow for this. Employees are appreciated for and empowered to thrive in their authenticity.
Authenticity must first be modeled from the leaders of the corporation through the corporate culture. We believe to build high employee engagement there must be a commitment to encompass authenticity within the organization. This would be represented by:
* Committing in words the true corporate culture of the organization;
* Creating leadership strategies and behaviours that are a reflection of the intended corporate culture;
* Ensuring consistent modeling of the corporate culture from the leaders and staff of the organization; and
* Creating a forum where employees can gain a deeper awareness of their own authenticity and how this can be brought into their work.
We support our clients in making this happen through a variety of coaching techniques and workshop ideas customized to their authentic needs. Check out our blog for interesting articles on employee engagement.
